Hi, I am Shri!
“It takes a wounded soul, to fully understand another wounded soul”
— Hafiz Poetry
A lover, learner and a leader
I grew up as the youngest in a family of five in India, surrounded by abundant love. My family beautifully modeled unconditional love, compassion, and kindness—values that continue to shape me today. I am not a stranger to difficult life transitions, with a background spanning two continents and 5 cities that I have called home.
I’ve also always been a knowledge seeker. A passion for learning has defined my entire life. With a background in engineering from a top tech school in India (IIIT) and Stanford, CA, this drive has been a loyal companion.
I built a successful career as a senior leader in tech giants like Google & Amazon, earning six figures, leading large teams, mentoring and coaching hundreds of leaders, and facilitating high-impact workshops—never realizing that these very skills would become the foundation of my next chapter.
It’s a path I didn’t choose, but one that chose me—a journey that led me to discover a deeper purpose, one that I never could have anticipated.
Three big life-altering events changed everything for me.
I lost my dad to a sudden heart attack in November 2019 and my sister, who was a gynaecologist to COVID, just 18 months later. And the third event? I was 2 months pregnant on the day I lost my sister. I gave birth to my firstborn, as I watched my mom mourn hers.
The duality of birth and death unfolded right in front of my eyes, and if that doesn’t make you ask the most dreadful existential questions, I don’t know what does. Grief shattered the world as i knew it. I lost close friendships, as do many grievers. It became abundantly clear how ill-equipped our society was in supporting grievers and how not only useless but harmful a lot of narrative around grief was.
I heard all the usual clichés—time heals, just be patient—but I quickly realized that time alone wasn’t healing anything. In fact, the longer time stretched on, the more intense the sorrow and guilt became. The fear of losing even more pieces of them, of feeling more distant as the seasons changed—that wasn’t going to fade on its own.
Patience wasn’t the answer. So I turned back to what I knew best: knowledge.
Birth of Transforming Through Grief
I began not just enduring grief, but understanding it. I gained:
Five years of deep study in everything grief—the philosophy, the biology, the science
Professional certification from Megan Devine, world-renowned grief expert and best-selling author
Two years of hands-on experience supporting hundreds of bereaved individuals through Hospice of the Pacific Northwest, Washington
And from this foundation was born, Transforming Through Grief.
It’s my initiative focused on raising awareness, fostering compassion, and providing abundant and meaningful support for those navigating the complex journey of grief. It has multiple different vehicles, but one purpose — making the world a better place for grievers.
Here's everything I do:
Speak at corporate events
to raise awareness about grief, change the culture of silence around grief in the workplace, and equip workplaces to provide a more compassionate and supportive transition for grieving individuals.
Create comfort products
TransformingStudio is my creative outlet where I create personalized memory, comfort and grounding products that gives grievers tangible ways to honor the memory of their loved ones and continue bonds,
